Becoming a member of the South Amboy First Aid Squad is a rewarding opportunity. It means helping our neighbors in their time of need. Every situation is different, and they require patience, logic, physical and mental skills.

Why Volunteer?

  • You will gain a sense of purpose that comes from assisting your friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers in their most vulnerable moments. Nothing in this world can compare to the feeling it brings to serve others.

  • SAFA will provide initial and continuous free training that will not only serve to better your life but benefit the lives of others in an emergency response situation.​

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND ENSURE THAT YOU MATCH THE MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA.

If you are interested in joining our organization, you may download, print, and fill out an application. Following completion of your physical application, you will contact our Recruitment Officer for an interview and information session. If you would like to contact us for questions prior to meeting with the Officer, you may utilize the Google Forms below. 

Membership Criteria:
- MUST reside in South Amboy or in adjacent townships: Perth Amboy; Morgan; Sayreville; Laurence Harbor
  (If you are unsure if you are able to apply, file a "General Inquiry" form in the Google Forms)
- MUST be interested in enrolling and completing an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program within 2 years of joining.
​- MUST maintain participation in Squad functions and responses to emergency calls following clearance
- MUST be Age 16 or older
(CADETS, Age 16-17, must reside in South Amboy to be eligible for Cadet Membership.)

Application Instructions:
Download the application below and print it out.
1. On Page 1, provide as much information as possible. 
2. On Page 2, provide education attended or currently attending. For Employment History, please fill out current or past employment. 
3. On Page 3, please provide 3 points of references. Please read the information carefully, sign, and date at the bottom. 
4. On Page 4, please fill out the information and provide a copy of your physical. If you currently are not seeing a doctor, you may visit the Squad's Physician at 305 Main Street, South Amboy NJ 08879. When you walk in, tell them that you are being seen for the South Amboy First Aid Squad. 
5. On Page 5, please fill out the information and have this form notarized. The City of South Amboy requires all individuals 18+ to have a background check prior to joining the Squad.

If you are below the age of 18, you will be required to obtain parental/guardian written consent in order for you to join and become a member. Please contact our Recruitment Officer for more information.

6. When completed, contact the Recruitment Officer (contact provided below) to schedule a time for pick-up and interview at the Squad Station. Our HQ address is 401 Main Street, South Amboy NJ 08879.
